Information about Stored Grain Pest Management

I received an email from a colleague (Natalie Hummel) from LA today that provides information about stored grain pest managent for rice. I have had several phone calls about this topic this year so I thought I would share this information.

There are several insects that attack stored rice. This picture is from the handbook from the Rice Mill Insect Pest Management: Optimizing Insect Control and Grain Quality Workshop.

“I may have sent you a notice about this event previously. Recently I uploaded Dr. Reagan’s workshop handbook to www.lsuagcenter.com.  Below you will find some information about the workshop and a link to a video of the presentations and the workshop handbook. This is an excellent resource to keep bookmarked if you need information about stored grain pest management options.

On May 10, 2011, Dr. Gene Reagan (LSU AgCenter) and a team of scientists from Oklahoma State University; USDA-ARS Center for Grain and Animal Health Research, Kansas; Arkansas State University; University of Arkansas; and Texas A&M AgriLife Research conducted a USDA-RAMP Project Workshop titled: “Rice Mill Insect Pest Management – Optimizing Insect Control and Grain Quality”.
