Follow-up on the corn earworm alert

Last week, there was a post about the alert sent out for corn earworm (a.k.a. bollworm, soybean podworm and tomato fruitworm). At this time, it isn’t anything to be too concerned about because this insect has a large host range. That said – they will feed on whorl stage corn before there are ears available. The may also feed on pre-squaring cotton, but that isn’t common. But right now, there are plenty of weeds out there that are attractive that we shouldn’t have an immediate threat – but keep your eyes open for them.
